Introduction
Tea Ceremony, “Sado” in Japanese (lit. “The Way of Tea”), is one of the many traditional Japanese arts you can experience in Kyoto. It is a centuries old ritual that will deepen your understanding of Japanese culture, tastes and architecture. At Camellia, experience an authentic Japanese tea ceremony in a traditional Machiya, with fluent English speaking tea masters. Watch the tea ceremony experts practice their craft, before trying it yourself! Camellia runs two tea houses: Camellia Flower for shared and private experiences in the historic downtown district, and Camellia Garden for a more private and unique experience in an exclusive environment.

Camellia Flower tea house is located in the heart of the historical Higashiyama district, on the famous Ninenzaka street, close to our Kiyomizu Garden house (check out Standard & Suite floors). Thanks to its central location you can easily add this authentic experience to your day ! The Flower tea house can arranged for you both shared and private tea ceremonies.

It could easily be added when visiting the Golden Pavilion and Ryoan-Ji making your day even more special! The Garden tea house offers a peaceful environment with a refined tea room and an amazing garden view. The tea house accommodates private tea ceremony only. Expect to spend a memorable time here. If you choose the Garden tea house (near Ryoan-ji), you could also wear a sumptuous kimono to make your time there completely authentic. A professional and experienced kimono dresser will be coming to dress you up. Then you could enjoy fully the tea ceremony. The dressing up takes about 30 minutes so the full experience ( Kimono dress-up + Tea ceremony) will last 90 minutes. Please note that we would need the height and weight of each participant.
